Understanding the Data
GovSpendBase is intended as a step towards improved public spending clarity.
Data Sources
Every record in GovSpendBase is linked to a publicly available source published by a government authority. These links are provided next to each spending entry and allow users to verify the origin of the data directly.
What the Data Represents
Data entries reflect either:
- Expenditure reports published by local authorities or public bodies; or
- Contract award notices stating the intended or maximum value of a public procurement award.
Published contract award values may be in excess of final spending. They reflect planned or maximum expenditure and may be revised, partially fulfilled, or cancelled altogether. A contract award notice will look something like this.
